Pompei

Pompeii is famous for its archaeological area where there are the ruins of an old Roman city destroyed by the eruption of the Vesuvio in 79 A.D. Some years before there was a terrible earthquake as a premonition. The city was not finished to be rebuilt, when the Vesuvio erupted, covering all the areas and its inhabitants with about 6 metres of ash, crystallizing everything in that moment. The city was forgotten for several centuries. The excavations started with the king Carlo of Borbone, but they last years and years.
